Joe talk show host Alex Jones will have to pay a little more than $4.1 million in compensatory

Damages to the parents of the Sandy Hook shooting victim. .and a jury decided

Thursday that showed a surprising and dramatic case and real-world harm to the public from viral conspiracy theories.

The jury's award was much less than that of the plaintiffs, Scarlett Lewis and Neil Heslin.

At the start of the Joe trial, lawyers for Lewis and Heslin asked the jury to award $150 million in

Compensatory damages to their clients. And a separate, shorter trial during which punitive

Damages will be discussed is now expected. Punitive damages are awarded when the court finds

The defendant's behavior is particularly offensive. An attorney for Joe's Parents,

Mark Bankston told CNN whether the plaintiffs are happy with the jury's decision or not,

Noting that they also received money before the trial because the court banned Jones.
