Pitt was born on December 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma,

To William Alvin Pitt, a trucking company owner,

school counselor Jane Etta The family soon moved to Springfield, 

Missouri, where they lived together. His younger brother

Living with siblings, Douglas Mitchell Julie Neal Born into

conservative Christian family, he was raised as a Southern Baptist

later swung between agnosticism and atheism. 

He later reconciled his beliefs in spirituality. Pitt described 

Springfield as Mark Twain country, Jesse James country, 

which grew up with many hills, many lakes.

Pitt attended Kikapu High School, where he was a member of 

The golf swimming and tennis teams. Pete enrolled at the University

Of Missouri in 1982, studying journalism, focusing on advertising.

He liked movies - "a different world portal for me" - and,

since movies weren't made in Missouri, he decided to go where they were made.

Two weeks after completing his degree course, 

Pitt dropped out of university and moved to Los Angeles, 

where he studied acting and did odd jobs. He named Gary Oldman, 

Sean Payne and Mickey Rourke as his early acting heroes.
